COURSE OUTLINE
1. Introduction to Energy Management Systems (EnMS)
This module introduces the fundamentals of Energy Management Systems, highlighting key concepts, benefits, and the role of EnMS in improving energy performance. Participants will gain an overview of ISO 50001, its structure, and how it supports systematic and continuous improvement in energy management.
2. Designing the EnMS Framework
Participants will learn how to design a structured EnMS framework, including setting energy policies, objectives, and targets, defining roles and responsibilities, and identifying significant energy uses and performance indicators to support effective energy management.
3. Implementing the EnMS Framework
This topic focuses on the practical implementation of EnMS, covering energy monitoring, data management, and operational controls. Participants will also learn how to maintain the system through regular reviews and apply continuous improvement strategies using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach.
4. Integrating ESG Objectives into EnMS
This module explores how EnMS can be aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives. Participants will understand how energy management initiatives contribute to sustainability goals, carbon reduction, and regulatory expectations, supported by relevant case studies and best practices.
5. Introduction to Energy Audits
Participants will be introduced to the purpose, scope, and importance of energy audits, including the benefits of conducting audits and the different types of energy audits used to identify energy-saving opportunities.
6. Preparing and Conducting the Energy Audit
This topic covers the key steps in planning and executing an energy audit, including data collection, site inspections, analysis of energy use, and the development of actionable and prioritized improvement recommendations.
7. Introduction to Measurement and Verification (M&V)
This module introduces the principles and importance of Measurement and Verification, providing an overview of key M&V concepts and commonly used protocols to quantify and validate energy performance improvements.
8. Developing Measurement and Verification (M&V) Plans
Participants will learn how to develop effective M&V plans by establishing baselines, defining system boundaries, selecting appropriate methodologies, and ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of energy savings.
9. Case Studies and Practical Applications
Real-world case studies are used to demonstrate the practical application of EnMS, energy audits, and M&V, highlighting benefits, lessons learned, and best practices for achieving sustainable energy performance improvements.
