COURSE OUTLINE
1. Introduction to Energy Management:
This module builds upon foundational awareness by exploring how energy management principles are applied at strategic and operational levels. Participants will revisit the Energy Management Pyramid with an emphasis on integrating conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy into broader compliance efforts. Practical insights will be shared on translating energy concepts into structured programs that align with regulatory expectations and business goals.
2. Regulatory Framework
This module offers an in-depth understanding of the legal and institutional landscape governing energy management under EECA 2024. Participants will analyze how policies translate into operational obligations and explore the enforcement mechanisms in place. Emphasis will be placed on aligning internal governance structures with the broader national energy agenda, enabling participants to navigate compliance frameworks with greater confidence.
3. Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA)
Participants will explore the EECA in greater detail; moving beyond awareness to application. This module breaks down the Act's practical implications, focusing on timelines, thresholds, enforcement authority, and interdependencies between provisions. Participants will be equipped to map their operational realities against the Act’s requirements, identifying potential risks and compliance gaps within their organizations.
4. Key Roles in EECA
This module will go deeper into the functional roles outlined in the EECA, providing clarity on specific responsibilities and interactions across internal departments. Participants will gain insights of how responsibilities of Energy Consumers, Persons in Charge of Buildings, REMs, and REAs influence operational compliance, reporting duties, and audit preparedness.
5. Duties of Energy Consumers
This session provides detailed coverage of Energy Consumer obligations, including the implementation of the Energy Management System (EnMS), submission of the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Report (EECR), and the execution of Energy Audits. Participants will learn how to operate these duties into repeatable, auditable processes that mitigate compliance risks and drive energy efficiency outcomes
6. Duties of the Person in Charge of a Building
Focusing on building-level compliance, this module examines the responsibilities of designated person in charge of a building under EECA 2024. It includes instruction on the Energy Intensity Label, display requirements, performance tracking, audit responsibilities, and improvement planning. Participants will gain understanding on the importance of managing their reporting and labelling responsibilities with precision.
7. Registration of Energy Managers and Energy Auditors
This module guides participants through the qualification, application, and renewal processes for REMs and REAs. Beyond meeting certification requirements, emphasis will be placed on fulfilling practice standards and managing the lifecycle of registration under EECA. Participants will also learn how to support internal talent pipelines for these roles within their organizations.
8. Energy Efficiency & Conservation Regulation (EECR) Module
Expanding on the Act, this module explores the supplementary regulations that define implementation specifics under EECA. Participants will be guided through key regulatory provisions for each stakeholder group, with a focus on navigating overlaps and ensuring organization-wide compliance alignment. This module also helps participants understand what documentation regulators expect during verification.
9. Guidelines and Guides Module
This session explaining the regulatory guides provided by the authorities, including those for energy consumers, REM functions, EnMS setup, and performance reporting. Participants will engage in document walkthroughs and simulations to ensure they understand how to interpret and apply each guide correctly. The focus is on preparing high-quality, regulator-ready submissions.
10. Plan & Execution Strategy Module
The closing module emphasizes translating compliance understanding into execution. Participants will begin shaping a preliminary roadmap tailored to their organization, addressing audit cycles, internal controls, stakeholder engagement, and resource planning. This module serves as a bridge into next step, preparing teams to take their draft strategy into hands-on planning.
